A Co Donegal shed went up in flames Sunday last near the town of Lifford. Over 140 sheep were trapped inside the building and subsequently died.

The blaze broke out on a farm at Drumbuoy in Lifford and gardaí were alerted to the incident around 1pm along with the fire fighting services.

By the time the emergency services arrived the blaze had already taken hold. The fire was fuelled further by a number of hay bales within the corrugated steel shed.

Gardaí have made an appeal for information to those who may have been in the St Jude's Court area of Lifford just before 1pm on Sunday last.

Dashcam footage from the area has also been requested.

Investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing and anybody with information is asked to contact Lifford Garda station on 074 914-100.
