Westmeath

A 41ac residential farm at Rathskeagh, Ballymore, Co Westmeath, was sold at auction on Thursday 14 November. It was offered in two lots; one was the house on 5.5 acres and the other was 36 acres on its own.

Auctioneer David McDonnell said that there was interest in both divisions and that there were two bidders for each lot. The entire 41 acres went on the market at €272,000 and a third bidder entered the foray. It was sold under the hammer for €282,000 (€6,878/acre) to a drystock farmer. The sale was handled by Property Partners McDonnell & Co, Mullingar.

Wexford

Some 14 acres of land at Ballyvaloo, Blackwater, Co Wexford, sold at auction on Friday 15 November for €175,000 (€12,500/acre). It is reported that there was a good turnout on the day of the auction.

Bidding opened at €100,000. Three bidders in the room bid it to €175,000 at which point the property was declared on the market. There was no further bidding following this, and the hammer fell at €175,000 to a local buyer.

The land is laid out in four divisions. Currently, 10 acres are in stubble after tillage with the remaining four acres in grazing. The coastal property was guided between €130,000 and €140,000 prior to auction. The sale was handled by Quinn Property, Gorey.

Clare

A 57ac residential farm at Rathcahaun, Ruan, Co Clare, failed to sell when it went to auction but was sold immediately afterwards. It was sold in two lots.

The residence on two acres sold for over the guide price of €150,000.

Meanwhile, the remaining 55 acres sold for near the guide price of €335,000, it is understood. The sale was handled by Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon, Ennis.

Meath

Some 82 acres at Rathmay and Ballynagranchy near Oldcastle, Co Meath, went to auction on Friday 15 November.

Lot one which comprises 48.82 acres at Rathmay failed to sell at auction but is currently under negotiations, the auctioneer Martin Shortt of Oldcastle told Irish Country Living.

He said that the 15.24 acres at Ballynagranchy made €9,000/acre and the 17.15 acres in the same area made €8,000/acre at auction.

Shortt added that there were no bids on lot four, which is the bungalow and outbuildings on just under an acre.
