Big Week on the Farm returns to our screens at 7pm this Monday night.

It will be on RTÉ One from Monday through to Thursday, broadcast from Stamullen, Co Meath.

Ivan and Frances Curran are hosts for the fourth year of the programme.

Harvest

The show returns in the autumn to capture the busy lives of farmers and nature at harvest time, presented by Aine Lawlor and Ella McSweeney.

We’ll see massive machines roll up acres of crops from barley to wheat and from potatoes to grass.

This series will also consider the effect Ireland’s agriculture is having on climate change and considers innovative ways in which it might be ameliorated, using cutting-edge science and technology, as well as nature itself.

Machinery

Irish Farmers Journal machinery correspondent Peter Thomas Keaveney will also be on hand to give analysis of the technology and machinery at the Stamullen farm.

Machines up for analysis

  • Grimme four-row potato harvester.
  • John Deere 9700i self-propelled silage harvester.
  • Fendt 943MT tracked tractor.
  • Claas Lexion 660 terra trac combine.
  • Keaveney will also highlight how each of the machines work and provide a price reveal.
