Beef protests at factories are having a significant impact on the lamb kill, according to IFA sheep chair Sean Dennehy.
Dennehy said: “Farmers with finished lambs for sale are very concerned, as they are unable to move lambs. Lambs are going over-fat and overweight."
Solution
He added that a solution must be found quickly, as sheep farmers needed to sell their lambs without difficulty.
The inability of farmers to sell factory-fit lambs was also having a negative impact on the mart trade in parts of the country, Dennehy said.
Beef talks are set to reconvene this weekend, aimed at finding a resolution to the protests, which are now entering their eighth week.
