William Ronald Armstrong (61) from Gorey Road, Cabragh, Dungannon, was sentenced at Dungannon Magistrates Court in regard to offences relating to animals.

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) said the charges included: “One charge of failure to dispose of a carcase, eight charges of failure to comply with a duty with regard to animal welfare, two charges of failure to make and retain medicine records and two charges of failure to produce medicine records.”

Suspended sentence

The farmer pleaded guilty to the offences and was given a two-month suspended sentence, suspended for three years.

The case was brought to light after an anonymous tip from a member of the public who had animal welfare concerns for the animals on the farm.
