Brazil – beef exports forecast to grow in 2020

Brazilian meat companies are forecasting another year of export growth in 2020. The Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters has said it expects 2020 beef exports to international markets to grow 13% to reach 2.1m tonnes.

US – trade deal with China agreed

The US has agreed the first phase of a trade deal with China, which will see the removal of tariffs on Chinese goods imported to the US market. As part of the deal, China said it will increase imports of US goods, mostly agricultural products such as soya and pork.

EU – milk production growth is sluggish

For October, milk production across the EU 28 stood at 12.2bn litres, which is 0.3% ahead of the same month last year. For the first 10 months of 2019, EU milk production stands at just under 129bn litres, which is 0.5% ahead of last year.

Japan – strong growth in cheese imports from EU

Japan is on course to import more than 115,000t of EU-made cheese for 2019. The first 10 months of the year show Japan has imported close to 100,000t of EU cheese already.
