The IFA is going to maintain its lockdown at Glanbia’s mills in Portlaoise, Co Laois, and Clonroche, Co Wexford, after the organisation’s national council supported a call to continue the protests on Thursday evening.

The Irish Farmers Journal understands that protestors at the two sites will not let any product in or out of the two plants.

On Thursday evening, there was a deal on the table, but the IFA grain committee said that there was not enough in the deal to move them from the gates. No meal will be allowed out the gates of the mills.

Members of the IFA grain committee joined IFA national council on Thursday evening.

It said that the base price was too low at €128/t when others were paying €140-€145/t.

Wednesday night’s talks between the IFA and Glanbia went on until 2am and talks on Monday night went on until 6am on Tuesday. While there has been movement, the IFA says this has not been enough.
