Moeskaer Polled Herefords is owned and managed by Henrik Andersen and his family. Henrik is a second-generation breeder – his parents founded the herd back in the 1970s. Today, Henrik runs about 75 animals in the herd.

Type of land and weather: Fertile arable land of humus and clay. We get rain all year but most in autumn (approximately 25in per year).

Show accomplishments/ herd success: Champion of the world, several champions of Europe, countless Danish champions, as well as national champions in several other countries.

What genetics is being used (AI bulls) and what country do you source it from? Mainly North America. Via embryo: TH BottomLine, Remitall Rainmaker etc. Via AI: SRF Fort Worth, Mast Franchise, Remitall Super Duty, Starlake Dandy, Remitall Pilgrim etc.

Embryo programme: We implant 30 to 50 embryos annually by top sires and females, mainly from North America. We also flush five to 10 of our top cows annually.

Why you choose the breed you did? We think Hereford is the best all-round breed. They do it all (easy-calving, milk, good growth and muscling, easy to work with). .

What characteristics do you look for when selecting stock? Growth, muscling, milk, length and depth of body, phenotype. Predictability and different genetics as well.

Top sales: we only sell our genetics privately. However, genetics from our herd have topped sales in the UK and Ireland. Some animals are sold for slaughter locally as Hereford beef, while others go all across Europe.

Future plans: Keep our herd on a high level and genetically different to other herds.
