JCB has updated its ever popular JCB 419S and 435S wheeled loaders. The 6.7l Cummins engine has now made the leap to the latest Stage V emission standards. The firm claims that the engines have benefitted from a 6.5% power increase and a substantial torque increase of up to 25.5%.

Stage V standards have been met with the addition of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) working alongside an existing Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR).

Engines have a new electronic management system providing the choice of two power and torque curves at the press of a button, one mode for road travel and one for work duties offering full performance. In its standard mode, the 419S offers up to 144hp (660Nm). In dynamic mode, this increases to 195hp (881Nm) up from 183hp (841Nm) of the older Stage IV machine.

Similarly on the 435S, 230hp (840Nm) is offered in standard mode, with dynamic mode seeing this increase to 252hp with a 25% torque increase to 1,186Nm up from 230hp (945Nm) previously.

Other updates include an auto-stop feature which switches off the engine after it’s left idling unnecessarily, this time limit can be preset on screen. Greater work light flexibility, a roof-mounted forward facing camera and the addition of rubber pads on the rear chassis to eliminate “knocking” when steering is fully locked, also features.
