Meath-based Dromone Engineering, specialists in the design and manufacturing of agricultural tractor pickup hitch technology, introduced three new product innovations at LAMMA last week.

First off, the company launched and demonstrated what it is branding as the next generation pickup hitch system. Known as Hitched and Locked (HAL), this electronic pickup hitch monitoring system provides confirmation to the operator that the attachment has been hitched safely and locked.

Hitched and Locked provides confirmation that the attachment has been hitched safely and locked.

It has two sets of integrated sensors and a small control box which provides an audio and visual signal to the cab. Once the hitch is unlocked, a buzzer will sound.

The first sensor goes off once the hitch is lifted and latched in the vertical position. The second sensor will continue to sound the buzzer until the hitch is retracted and locked. Through these sensors, it eliminates the possibility of a false positive – it doesn’t just detect the position of the lock, but also confirms the hitch is correctly locked. The HAL is €400 to €500 depending on the specification.

The firm also launched two new Ball Hitch System designs. First up was the D80 Drawball, which is essentially the ball and spoon hitch on a drawbar system designed for applications such as baling.

The company also showcased the D80 Ball Hitch System, which has been designed for Fendt tractors to reduce movement between the ball and the pickup hitch.
