Kerry will pay its suppliers 29.89c/l, excluding VAT, for December milk and Glanbia will pay a base milk price of 28.46c/l, excluding VAT.

Glanbia suppliers will also receive a Glanbia co-op support payment of 1c/l. This will bring the member supplier price to 29.41c/l.

Lakeland increased its price to 29.7c/l, excluding VAT. Carbery held its milk price on Wednesday at 29.8c/l, excluding VAT.

The increase by 1c/l in milk price comes off the back of an increase in the Ornua purchase price index (PPI) for December. The PPI lifted for a fourth consecutive time, to 107.7 points. This is the equivalent of 30.64c/l, excluding VAT.

Aurivo milk price scheme

A new fixed milk price scheme is to be rolled out by Aurivo in the Republic of Ireland, covering milk supplies from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020.

Farmers will get a 30.36c/l base price, excluding VAT, for a maximum of 10% of their 2019 manufacturing monthly supply.

A special allocation will apply to new entrants to dairying, who commenced milking after January 1 2020.

The closing date to apply to the scheme is Friday 24 January.
