The Northern Ireland Limousin Cattle Club, in partnership with the NI young breeders, held the rising stars show in Dungannon recently, with Bernish PrincessJuli emerging victorious. This super stylish young homebred heifer was exhibited by Kieran McCrory, Sixmilecorss.

Sired by the well-known Wilodge Cerberus, she is out of the homebred dam Bernish JuliFortune, which goes back to the noted Goldies Vitality.

PrincessJuli was awarded the junior championship, pedigree championship and eventually the supreme champion under judge Andrew Gammie.

Andrew runs the noted Westpit herd in Aberdeenshire and recently won Scottish ‘Stars of the Future’ calf show, claiming the senior male champion, senior champion and interbreed senior champion with Westpit Orlando, which then went on to fetch 12,000gns at the recent February sale in Carlisle.

A total of 57 animals were presented in front of Gammie, which included a strong show of 2019-born Limousin-sired commercial cattle.

The day’s reserve supreme champion came from this section, when the overall commercial champion 99 It’s A Surprise got the nod. This all-black heifer was brought out by the JCB team and is a daughter of Lodge Hamlet son Pabo Mr Muscle.

Taking the reserve pedigree championship honours along with the senior championship was Deerpark Pluto.

This stylish March 2019-born bull was exhibited by brothers Conor and Ryan Mulholland.

Sired by Plumtree Fantastic, he is out of the foundation female Ampertaine Isadora.

Reserve senior champion was the January 2019-born Foxhillfarm Priceless exhibited by Nugent Estate and Farm, which purchased this heifer at the 2019 weaned calf sale in Carlisle. Priceless is sired by Objat and is out of the 125,000gns Glenrock Illusion.

Reserve junior champion was Birchwood Polly. This is the first time the McGurk family attended the calf show with their Trueman Jagger-sired heifer which is out of Grenville Frances by the noted Wilodge Vantatsic.

Reserve commercial champion went to the JCB team again, with their Trueman Idol-sired heifer Tobasco.

No stranger to the show circuit, this March 2019-born heifer was shown successfully throughout the summer of 2019, attaining the reserve commercial championship at the NI Limousin Championships at Antrim Show and then going on to be the calf champion at Agri Expo in Carlisle.
