Purcell Brothers have signed a contract to export a boatload of light Friesian bulls to Libya in September. The order is for 2,500 bulls and the company is starting to buy suitable stock now.

There is demand in Libya for imported livestock but currency and political instability has made it difficult for Irish exporters to finalise contracts.

Meanwhile, another exporter is attempting to finalise a similar order of bulls for export to Turkey and this is also expected to go ahead next month.
