Fluke and worm control

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) is holding six free workshops on worm and fluke control between 7 February and 1 March as part of its “Better Grazing” programme.

They will be held at the Dryfesdale Hotel, Lockerbie on Wednesday 7 February; Melrose Rugby Club on Thursday 8 February; the Ardshiel Hotel, Campbeltown on Tuesday 13 February; the Battleby Centre, Perth on Tuesday 27 February; The Jury’s Inn, Inverness on Wednesday 28 February; and The Thainstone Centre, Inverurie on Thursday 1 March.

Each meeting will begin at 10.15am with coffee, followed by a mix of presentations to cover the key topics as well as some hands-on exercises.

Attendance is free and lunch will be provided. Booking is essential.

SAYFC California trip

Applications for SAYFC’s international study trip to California close next Friday 2 February.

The trip will take place around the end of November/beginning of December and will be approximately 12 days.

More information about the trip and how to apply can be found on the SAYFC website. There are 12 to 15 places, so make sure to get your application in.

NFUS AGM

NFU Scotland is holding its AGM on 8 and 9 February in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.

The programme includes an address from Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and Connectivity Fergus Ewing MSP.

The AGM will also hear from Dennis Overton, vice-chair of Scotland Food and Drink; Terry A’Hearn, CEO of SEPA; Tracey Roan, Roan’s Dairy; Caroline Millar, Go Rural; and farmers from Norway.
