Mark Lewis, a partcipating farmer in the Better Farm NI Programme, is dispersing his suckler herd due to a change in farming system.

Markethill Mart will hold a special dispersal sale of suckler cows and heifers for Mark Lewis, Portadown, on Thursday 6 February, starting at 7pm.

Eighty in-calf females will be forward for sale, split between 50 young cows and 30 heifers.

All cows are due to start calving from late February onwards to either a Simmental or Charolais stock bull, with heifers in-calf to an Angus.

Herd sires are high-index bulls for maternal and terminal traits. Mark Lewis has participated in the BETTER Farm NI programme over the past three years, and is switching to dairy production.
