Two vet practices based in Northern Ireland have been issued animal medicine improvement notices by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD).

Johnston Agri Supplies in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, was served the notice by VMD during a routine inspection.

According to VMD, they failed to maintain proper records for POM-VPS, which is commonly used in horse and farm animal medicines.

They were also pulled up on supplying POM-VPS from a vehicle without a suitably qualified person prescribing the product or allocating it from the registered premise.

They were told they needed to have full traceable records, including name, address, date of supply, product quantity and batch numbers.

Castlehill Veterinary Clinic

Castlehill Veterinary Clinic, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, was issued with an improvement notice for failing to maintain adequate records of the supply of veterinary medicines and supplying unauthorised veterinary medicines without valid special treatment certificates.

The VMD said that since the improvement notice had been issued in August that the clinic had complied with a number of improvements they were charged with undertaking.
