A status yellow rainfall warning has been issued by Met Éireann.

The warning will affect Munster, Connacht, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly and Westmeath.

There is a risk of flooding and the warning is in place from Sunday 13 October 6pm until midnight on Monday 14 October.

The heavy rain forecast is bad news for many farmers who will have been hoping for a dry spell in order to spread slurry before the 15 October deadline.
