The UK’s Food and Drink Federation (FDF) has warned of food shortages in the UK if there is a no-deal Brexit.

Speaking to the BBC, FDF’s chief operating officer Tim Rycroft said that in the event of a no-deal, there would be "selective shortages" of food that would go on for "weeks or months".

They are also asking the government to relax competition rules to enable collaboration between companies in order to maintain food supply.

Ordinarily, this is banned by competition legislation and businesses can be fined up to 10% of turnover if found guilty of anti-competitive behaviour.
