Crops & Spreaders 2019 will take place in Teagasc Oak Park, Co Carlow, next Wednesday 26 June.

Among the many topics to be covered at the event are the challenges around selecting the right fertiliser spreader.

With technology advancing and efficiency becoming more important, fertiliser spreaders have increasingly wider bout widths, which make it more difficult to spread fertiliser evenly.

Selecting the right spreader is an important decision and a good spreader will have a good even spread pattern.

This pattern is checked by calculating the spreader’s coefficient of variation.

The 2019 Crops & Spreaders open day will be held by Teagasc, in association with the Irish Farmers Journal.

The event will this year focus on the even and accurate spreading of fertiliser.

The event will provide an opportunity to view demonstrations from the Teagasc crops research programme at the Oak Park campus from 11am to 6pm on the day.
