The Simmental breed enjoyed an exceptional opening day at the Farmfair International in Edmonton, Canada.

The four-day show began with the Legends of the Fall classes. Equivalent to an Irish junior interbreed competition, this section sees calves born from January 2019 onwards secure top position in a breed class before going head to head with other breeds to claim the title of Champion Legend of the Fall.

This year’s male and female champions both came from the Simmental breed.

Securing the overall male championship was Black Gold Captain Scream 41G from Black Gold Simmentals. Exhibited by Randy Noble, this January 2019-born bull is a son of BGS/BM Captain Scream 63D and out of the dam Peacocks Lil Josie 2Y.

In the female section, the Simmental section winner and overall female champion was Boss Lake Ms Elle 926G. Born mid-February, this calf was shown by Brittany Boss of Boss Lake Genetics. Sired by WS Pilgrim H1824, she is out of the homebred Boss Lake Ms Elle 638D.
