Over €818,828 (£700,000) worth of classic tractors and machinery went under the hammer at a dispersal auction on behalf of a well-known UK collector, hosted by auction house, Cheffins.

Topping the sale, selling for €48,544 (£41,500), plus VAT, was a rare 1985 Massey Ferguson 2725 4wd model in original condition and with just 2,782 hours on the clock.

This 1970 County 1004 with a fully rebuilt engine and new tyres sold for €32,753 (£28,000).

This 1976 Muirhill 121 sold for €31,583 (£27,000).

This 1983 Fendt Favorit 610LS Turbomatik sold for €24,564 (£21,000) plus VAT and commission.

This 1988 Ford 7810 Series II 2wd sold for €23,395 (£20,000) plus VAT and commission.

This 1966 Massey Ferguson 175 equipped with front and rear wheel weights sold for €22,810 (£19,500).

The auction included over 60 tractors; 22 Fords, 28 Massey Fergusons as well as a select few Countys, Case Internationals, John Deeres, David Browns, a Fendt and a Muirhill. The majority of the tractors included in the collection were in their original, untouched condition.

The second highest price paid on the day was for a 1970 County 1004 which sold for €32,753 (£28,000). Fitted with a Duncan cab, it underwent an extensive engine overhaul and was fitted with four new tyres. The third highest price of the auction was €31,583 (£27,000) paid for a 1976 Muirhill 121, shod on 18.4/15-30 tyres and fitted with underslung weights. This was followed by €24,564 (£21,000) plus VAT paid for a 1983 Fendt Favorit 610LS Turbomatik model showing 8,787 hours, while a 1988 Ford 7810 Series II 2wd model fitted with a Super Q cab sold for €23,395 (£20,000) plus VAT.

A 1966 Massey Ferguson 175, again in original condition and equipped with front and rear wheel weights, sold for €22,810 (£19,500), followed by a 1990 Ford 6810 Series III showing 3,472 hours which sold for €22,225 (£19,000) plus VAT.

Meanwhile, a 1996 Massey Ferguson 390 12/12 equipped with a LoProfile cab sold for €19,885 (£17,000) plus VAT, followed by a 1996 Case 5120 Maxxum which also sold for €19,885 (£17,000) plus VAT. A 1992 Ford 7810 Series III sold for €19,300 (£16,500) plus VAT. Commission on all tractors was charged at 6%, plus VAT.

“This collection of 60 or so classic tractors, amassed by Peter Marquis over a number of years, generated incredible pre-sale interest which subsequently resulted in a large crowd on auction day.

“Prices were good for honest, well-chosen machinery. There was interest and bidding from across the UK and mainland Ireland and Northern Ireland,” commented Oliver Godfrey, Cheffins director.
